Hussain Younes – Videos from gracious Lebanon

Published: Apr 23, 2022

Hey there! Coming to you from the land of Lebanon! This is Hussain Younes, a videographer capturing moments that matter and a video editor bringing people’s stories back to life.
From childhood, I wondered if there was a time machine that could take me back in time to discover what life looked like hundreds of years ago and see the faces of my ancestors; those who built our great life and culture and world-wide famous cuisine. Not only me, too many friends of mine had the same visions, but unfortunately, we all know that this machine does not exist.
Taking my dream a step further, when I was 7-year-old, I used to sit next to my parents while they were watching old movies in black and white, and I literally used to think that life in the past, was in black and white. I thought there were no colors; no red, blue, pink, or yellow.

Starting when I entered high school and was only nine years old, my friends, teachers, and family began to ask me what field of studies I would pursue at the university. Their expectations were that I would give a typical answer, such as being an engineer, a doctor, or a teacher, just like the vast majority of my friends’ would recite to them. Every time I was asked that question, my answer was driven by the time machine and the memories I had when I was a 7-year-old, and I was telling everyone that I would become a videographer. This is how I kick-started my journey; from a Polaroid camera in 2005 to a DSLR one in 2021, and I am seeing my life through the lens.
I graduated from high school in 2008 and started upgrading my skills in videography through academic and professional learning at the university. At that turning point, I lost contact with my friends from high school, but interestingly, some of them started reaching out to me via Facebook in 2014. They were doctors, teachers, engineers, or entrepreneurs running their own businesses, and they all wanted me to shoot and edit some videos of them, as they were impressed by the spectacular work which I was posting on social media. It took me a short period of time to know that I am, as a videographer and video editor, the center of the world. People are approaching me to capture the moments that matter to them and bring their memories to life before it is too late.

I could not describe the energy I had at that time, and I was taking advantage of every opportunity to excel in my skills until I landed managerial positions at national and multinational firms. I was like a mountain climber who each time he reaches the summit of the mountain, other higher summits become visible to him.

I have experience working as a freelancer, editing videos, supervising postproduction at a Canadian firm, and directing a radio station in Lebanon. This mixed experience helped me to gain multiple skills that make a significant difference in every job I take. I can confidently click the pause button in everyone’s life when taking a video with my camera. Not only this, but I am also here to issue a return ticket to moments and preserve the values of every video; otherwise, they become memories.
