Robert Holts – The Dedicated Actor

Published: Apr 23, 2022

Growing up in New York City, I couldn’t stop being in front of a camera. I would walk around with my dad’s large video camera and record everything. I always made sure I was in character mode and portray some goofy personality so I knew since I was young that I wanted to be on television and film. I used to love watching Marlon Brando, Helen Mirren, Leo DiCaprio, etc. Those are some of the greatest magicians of all time. Meaning, they have you captivated from the moment they appear on screen to the very last word they spoke. It took time for me to get over the fear of “being on spot” and receiving all the attention, but once my nerves settled, the stage was mine. In High School, I did some theater and sports. But it wasn’t until I went to lunch with my mother in NY that a small break was coming my way.

I was approached by a casting director and asked me for a headshot and my excitement just flowed within my body. She asked me to come back to central park the next day to film a commercial. I didn’t star in it but, I was featured and had the very best time for my first gig. Yes, this is what I want! I was bitten by the acting bug! I immediately started going to workshops and classes and auditioned as much as I could. As I got older, I worked on my Monologue, scene studies, audition approaches, cold reading approaches and methods, etc. Each day in class felt like I won the lottery. I was happy every second.

Throughout these years, I have auditioned for multiple projects, using multiple auditioning platforms. I have worked a little but nowhere near as much as I wanted. I always had trouble finding a manager or agent. To me, this was the hardest goal to accomplish. Even to this day, I do not have a manager.
Over the years I have continued to pursue acting, it is my love, but I also have to make a living and acquire an income, so I became a PE teacher and pray that one day, a casting director and a manager will give me a chance to shine.

Presently, I am filming a series that will be pitched to the networks called “Little Miss Perfect.” I play the high school Principal. I continue to audition and take as many workshops and classes I can to help advance my dream career. Doing this will hopefully open some doors with casting, actors, and collaborative relationships. I can’t wait to meet all of you out there in this wonderful world of entertainment and storytelling and hopefully you will feel what I present. I want to inspire all of those artists who inspired me to pursue this marvelous craft and domain.

Back Again in November 21

Hey there fellow actors. I feel as if I had hit a dry spell with getting auditions and some sort of feedback from my talent link search. Do you all use this tool on Actors Access? Did anyone find an agent or manager through talent link on Actors Access? I have not yet had any luck for the last 2 months. I am starting to wonder if I should automatically change my look or body type. I just want some guidance and direction. I really want to work on guest appearances and U5’s for some major network shows. I feel so stuck. I also wanted to get back into soap operas but have not yet found a contact for soaps. Well, I guess the search continues. I wish you all a fantastic day and evening and week to come. God bless you all.
